Since its inception in 1993, the CORE Ensemble has garnered international recognition for its efforts to commission new works for its unique combination of cello, piano and percussion. Broadening the definition of chamber music, the ensemble has been the catalyst in the creation of several chamber music theatre works weaving narrative and theatre into the chamber music experience.

	REINVENTING THE CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLE
	As audience demographics change and technology touches the ways in which people experience art, chamber ensembles are seeking new ways to engage the public. CORE Ensemble members discuss their vision of the chamber works of the future, citing examples of their own chamber music theatre repertoire. The program discusses the challenges of being an artist in a marketplace economy. How does a chamber music ensemble survive financially which remaining constant in its artistic vision? How does it program music relevant to its changing audiences? How do artists develop a philosophy that makes sense in a world of rapidly changing tastes without compromising its artistic standards?
	MUSIC AND BUSINESS SEMINAR
	A business plan for aspiring artists. Invaluable as a career development tool, this seminar is a must for anyone planning a profession in music or arts management. Issues such as marketing, publicity, fundraising, non-profit corporation and board development will be discussed.
	UNUSUAL REPERTOIRE FOR SOLO PIANO

	CORE pianist Hugh Hinton explores intriguing and little known piano music. Repertoire will include extended techniques for piano showcasing the music of Henry Cowell, John Cage, and George Crumb, as well as works by Ruth Crawford, Lee Hyla and Donald Martino.
